Stoffel 07.2004
my full name is Christoffel Diederik Kuenen
but they call me stoffel
in April 2002 I completed my Masters' thesis in Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands.
during my masters' project I worked for 8 months
in
prof. Roz Picard's
Affective Computing group
at the
MIT Media Lab, Cambridge MA,
USA.
I finished my masters' at the
ID-StudioLab in the
school of Industrial Design Engineering
at the internationally respected
Delft University of Technology
In March 2003 I founded skept
- product realization,
my own Industrial Design Engineering business.
Several projects have been assigned to me since.
Among those projects was the R&D for an innovative
electronic marketing medium powered by the Radio Data System (RDS).
In October 2003 this project resulted in the founding of another new business:
Wireless Playground b.v., a network organisation
for new product development.
participants are:
Wouter Gort - CEO
Patrick Grasso - Sales Manager
Ronald Mannak - CTO
Johan Versteegh - Systems Design and Production Coordination
Stoffel Kuenen - Strategic Systems Design and Production Managament
I am allways on the lookout for new challenges
an exciting JOB
or an interesting assignment
do
you have one for me?
Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) is the
marrying of both
human factors and technology
into a desirable product or tool.
An industrial design engineer is a technologist as well as a designer and is able to master the sub-disciplines that are needed to design new products.
Education and research at IDE have a technical
and scientific approach in regard to
industrial innovation.
Product development is used as a tool to satisfy individual users, market
needs, trade and industry, this means that industrial design engineering is
multidisciplinary in origin.
The difference with the concept of a designer as an artist should be stressed.
An industrial design engineer is a designer in a much broader sense of the
word. Not only has an industrial design engineer the aesthetic
skills of a designer, but also knowledge and skills concerning ergonomics,
marketing, management, engineering, ecology/sustainability and advanced manufacturing
techniques.
An industrial designer must be able to communicate with people from all fields involved and therefore would ideally have extensive knowledge of all these. A designer of this calibre acts as a mediator between a consumer’s wish or need, and the final realisation of fulfilment, therefore playing an integral role as a link between people, science, commerce and society.
